We’ve all had great nutritionists and dieticians. And the fact that dieticians are more thoroughly trained doesn’t always mean their plan trumps that of the nutritionists in terms of results. Not all nutritionists and dieticians fully understand how to eat for insulin resistance. (Mostly because NO ONE fully understands it. The good, expensive science is still yet to come.) So, you’ll get programs with cereal, white rice, white potatoes, and fruit as snacks all alone not paired with protein or fat. Also, not all nutritionists or dieticians write programs with the intention of achieving your most audacious fitness goals. Many write programs that are kind of down the middle aimed at not being fat, but also not being fit. It is a case by case situation. Some are great. Some not. Having a title isn’t the end-all, be-all when it comes to nutrition for PCOS ladies. So, are any and all dieticians and nutritionists ideal to create the perfect PCOS nutrition program for achieving your most audacious fitness goals. Not always.

What about personal trainers who train their clients at an elite level? We have mad respect for fitness experts who physically and nutritionally train women who are eating and exercising to achieve their most audacious goals. Namely, those working with elite athletes, bikini competitors, and women with elite goals for their figures.
If you’ve ever trained and eaten at this level, you have seen the results come, and it’s not because these trainers have a deep understanding of PCOS and insulin resistance. It’s because the typical elite nutrition plan just happens to tick a lot of the same boxes that a good PCOS plan would – lots of protein, calorie deficit (if your goal is fat loss), no processed crap, lots of water, good sleep, and regular physical activity just to name a few. So are all elite trainers ideal to create the perfect PCOS nutrition program for achieving your most audacious fitness goals? Not always.
Then we come to self-proclaimed PCOS nutritionists. They know what foods are high on the glycemic index and what foods are low. They’ve got all the blood test reccos. They understand that white foods are bad and brown foods better. So, they’ll fill your plan with brown rice, brown bread, sweet potatoes, almond meal, and more.

We agree that eating low-GI foods are better than eating high-GI foods for PCOS. But not every low-GI food lends itself to fat loss. If you want to gain less or maybe even maintain, this approach will work just fine. But replacing high sugar carbs with lower sugar carbs isn’t the most efficient way to reach your most audacious goals, albeit the tastiest. 😉 So are ‘PCOS nutritionists’ ideal to create the perfect PCOS nutrition program for achieving your most audacious fitness goals? Not always.

There is one HUGE deficiency for every group giving nutrition advice to PCOS ladies and that food tasting good is not always a priority when it comes to creating meal plans. There are not that many nutritionists, elite trainers, or PCOS nutritionists that are also great cooks. But isn’t food tasting good going to keep you on your plan longer? We submit, yes!
So, should we be consulting world-class chefs or at least really good cooks? We probably don’t need to list the pros and cons of this one. But we submit that PCOS ladies have it darn hard, and in a lot of cases, they have to be sooooo much more adherent to their nutrition. Meaning, a normal woman might fall off the nutrition wagon for the weekend and be able to get back on track in a couple days, while the same behavior in a PCOS lady could put her back a couple weeks! So, we believe it is of utmost importance that PCOS ladies enjoy the food they’re eating. Taste matters. Because they have to stick with it, or their slow results become even slower. The food has to taste good and it also has to be food that lends itself to fat loss, So are really good cooks ideal to create the perfect PCOS nutrition program for achieving your most audacious fitness goals? Unfortunately, probably not.
What we really need here is a magician, right?
We love all the people who are lending their talents to solve the problem of nutrition for PCOS ladies. There are good people who can help you in every group. It truly is case-by-case and they will tell you as much. Everyone is doing their best to get results for PCOS ladies in their own way and we love them for it. We’ve tried them all and them some. The issue is not the people, it’s PCOS. We’re all circling around figuring out the best approach for PCOS ladies and none of us have quite landed it. But dissecting all the deficiencies and weighing all the positives are what have led us to create the program that we have. We have gone through writing this article to explain why we don’t believe that slapping the name of a random nutritionist on our program makes is good. Or a random elite trainer’s nutrition program. Or a random ‘PCOS nutritionist.’ Or a random chef.
Our nutrition program is a hybrid because it aims to enhance all the positives these professionals bring to the table and address all the weaknesses. Our nutrition plans are based on a combination of best practices from elite coaches, nutritionists who write for fat loss, low-GI specialists who understand insulin resistance, and good cooks.

That is to say, our daily foods are primarily made up of ingredients that would be on the menus of those eating for fat loss at an elite level. But when it comes to sugar-spiking carbohydrates, foods low on the glycemic index are substituted. Additionally, our recipes are modelled after food from some of the best cooks in the world. So, instead of the boring chicken and green beans a bikini competitor might eat 7 days in a row, week after week, you get imaginative and delicious recipes that also lead to fat loss while keeping you delightfully engaged. Our test kitchen team is made up of foodie fitness fanatics, so if it isn’t delicious and healthful, it doesn’t go into the library. 💕
In short, our food is not created by a licensed dietician, a nutritionist, an elite fitness coach, a specialized PCOS nutritionist, or a great cook. It is the sum of all of these, cobbled together to give you the best chance at shedding fat and sticking with it. We firmly believe that you can achieve your most audacious goals, and we aim to do everything in our power to help you get there. Deliciously.
